Community Action Partnership of Hennepin County is Hiring a Front Desk Receptionist Near Minneapolis, MN

Front Desk Receptionist
Community Action Partnership of Hennepin County (CAP-HC) is seeking a professional, friendly receptionist to represent our agency and serve as the first point of contact for guesting visiting our office from 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M., Monday through Thursday, and 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. on Friday. Key responsibilities for this person include greeting guests when they arrive, answering and transferring phone calls, providing information about our services, and other clerical duties. Travel/commute locally to other CAP-HC locations, as needed.
Summer employment: June 26, 2024 – August 16, 2024.
The hourly rate of the pay is $20.00.
Hours of employment: 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M., Monday through Thursday, and 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. on Friday, or up to 28 hours per week. The start and end times may change based on need.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Welcome office guests, visitors, and clients, and direct them to the person or office they are visiting.
  • Help and answer guests’ questions.
  • Answer and direct phone calls; Monitor the agency voicemail system.
  • Direct clients to website for Energy Assistance Program and Client Services information and applications.
  • Provide information about CAP-HC and our programs and services; Explain program guidelines, eligibility, and documentation requirements.
  • Connect clients to community resources, as needed.
  • Perform various other clerical tasks, including scanning, copying, filing, and data entry.
  • Provide administrative support to all team members, as necessary.
  • Maintain reception area and office supplies.

Required Qualifications
  • Must be able to work June 26, 2024 – August 16, 2024.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Previous work experience.
  • Professional demeanor.
  • Familiarity and proficiency with Microsoft Office products (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint).
  • Ability to operate office equipment such as copier, poster meter, etc.
  • Excellent professional written and verbal communication.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish or English and Somali.
  • Data entry and office environment experience.
Physical Requirements
Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to walk short distances. Exerting up to twenty-five pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. Focus and long periods of mindfulness. Travel/commute locally to other CAP-HC locations, as needed.

Community Action Partnership of Hennepin County (CAP-HC) is part of the Community Action Network, a 1,000-agency strong network committed to poverty reduction. Community Action Partnership of Hennepin County (CAP-HC) is a state and federally certified Community Action organization that serves the residents of Hennepin County. The network was established in 1964 with the passage of the Economic Opportunity Act.
Established in 1986, CAP-HC is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit that was formerly known as Community Action Partnership of Suburban Hennepin. In 2016, the agency received official designation from then-Governor Mark Dayton's office to extend Community Action Agency services to Minneapolis residents. Today, we are excited to serve all of Hennepin County with viable and multifaceted anti-poverty programming.
CAP-HC has an array of community-centered programs and services, including Energy Assistance, Water Assistance, Financial Wellness, Vehicle Repair Program, Rental Assistance, and Homebuyer Services. We develop partnerships to address poverty while creating avenues of self-sufficiency for individuals and families.
